Oh my gosh! Elsa Mora! I went to the National Gallery the other day to hear Elsa Mora, the artist, lecture. I was not disappointed that I did.
I have loved her work for years. She is highly skilled in many media, but paper cutting is her specialty. Be still my heart. A paper cutter giving a lecture!
She is so down-to-earth and humble. I was so touched to hear her speak about her life. My eyes were teary through a lot of the lecture, although I think a lot of that was from just being so happy to be there.
I comment on her blog under the name "Snippety Gibbet." That name is just odd enough, that she recognized it when I told her who I was. My day was made.

Jan in the Style of Roy Lichtenstein
This weekend I took a college class many, many hours from home. The focus of the class was on three pieces of software for art education.
The remainder of the class is all done online. I have five pieces of art that I have to create as a part of my grade. Since my fifth graders just attended a showing of work by Roy Lichtenstein at the National Gallery, I decided to do a self portrait in his style.
This was done using the software program, Pixie.
Here is the original photo that is under the "Lichtenstein".
LOL! What a difference. It makes me giggle, but I do like the glamorous version of me!
