Christmas Scherenschnitte Cards 2012

My creative juices have been spent mostly on yarn related activities lately.  Nothing highly creative; just pleasurable.

But since Christmas is coming up, I've started snipping my holiday cards.  They often change from the time I start designing until the time I finish the last snip.  Here's how they look at the moment.

I'd like to add some sparkly white powdery stuff, but I have no clue how to do it.  I think it involves some hot air blower tool.  No clue where even to begin on that one.  Do you know?

I love your card! That is so creative. It would look nice with sparkly snow but I don't have any idea how to do it either.

Ahhh - you're thinking of embossing powder and a heat tool that melts it all together.

Why not go "vintage" with spray adhesive and glitter? That Martha Stewart sure has a nice selection of colors.

I've got some links for you that might help. They deal specifically with stamping an image to emboss but the tips can be used for your purposes, too (more after links)

Heat Embossing Tips

My method:
- clear embossing ink boss gloss by Stampendous
- embossing powder by Stampendous (there are lots of choices - glittered, pearlized, etc.)
- paint brush

Paint the clear embossing ink on the area, sprinkle the powder over the ink, tap the paper so the stray powder is removed, apply heat.

Before heat tools were available, I used to hold my paper over a toaster to emboss it.

Good luck!

Other than that there is an acrylic paint with very fine shimmer....check where the American or Folk Art Acrylics are in craft store....then you could apply exactly where you want. Test first.

I love it! What Flash said but I have used an old toaster oven.
