Kid's art cracks me up. Not in a bad way. Just in a "isn't that too dog goned cute/funny" kind of way.
In this lesson, the second graders talked about Grant Wood's painting, American Gothic.
The kids then tried to draw pictures of themselves in front of their friends.
The objective was mostly achieved; I see some tentative tries at overlapping.
But these kids sure have some entertaining looking friends for seven year olds.

These are great! (And you can see why this kind of drawing inspired my fabric applique in "She Put Her Foot Down". Wouldn't some of those faces be fabulous!!)
OMG! THis is so cute!!! You're right...such interesting friends they have come up with!!! Hehehe!
What a great drawings!!! I teach 10 and 11 year old kids, can I please use your lesson?
groetjes Heleen.
I think it is just the raw and uncensored way that kids draw that makes it so appealing for me. It's when they start worrying about making it look realistic that they lose that sense of freedom.
Makes me yearn for that kind of freedom - to not worry about making a mistake or messing up.
