Kinder Scherenschnitte

I wish I had done these.  A kindergarten teacher at my school snipped them.  When I saw these silhouettes lining the primary hallway I was so drawn in.

The teacher told me that I should hold off showing them until after the kids added speech bubbles.

This way looks perfect to me.  I'd rather imagine what these shadow kids are doing.
These little shadows are SO much like the little dears who they represent.

These look as though they are having so much fun, they make me want to spend a day playing in kindergarten.

Oh wow! This is the very best! Wouldn't it be great around a child's room too!

Love this idea. I could totally do this with my projector. Do you think kinder kids could cut them on their own?

They could cut them roughly. The silhouettes might lose noses and ponytails or have blobs for heads. I wouldn't have high expectations for precision if the little ones are doing the cutting. Even some of my second graders are shocking poor at cutting. Nice idea though.

I just love those kinders! Great idea. Are they made of black butcher paper?

She used fadeless black bulletin board paper.

I just realized that they look like the people on the iPod ads.

This is great! I love going to my son's school to see the ideas they come up with too. Hallways seem to inspire a different sort of art than other spaces.

I am so stealing this idea. I am doing self portraits with the kids now and silhouette would be a good activity to do after that.

What a great idea! I hope the school keeps them up for the rest of the year. They really capture the spirit of childhood.

That is really delightful - shadow children playing along the wall! The speech bubbles would be fun too I think!
