Christmas Gift for a Seven Year Old

I need suggestions for Christmas and birthday presents for a seven year old girl. Have you observed any "home run" kind of gifts for this age range?

Thanks! jan

My youngest is 7 and she is all into the Zhu Zhu Pets this year. Seems it's a craze. They're hamsters. I don't get the appeal but I'm not 7! lol

Maybe a little (homemade) bag full with creative 'to do' presents.
Good luck with finding the rigth gift!

Well... my daughter's 7 and she got guinea-pigs! But if live animals are not a great idea, I agree with Heleen: my daughter LOVES to make things and I've put together little packages of book making things that have gone down well with her friends. I mean nice bits of paper, maybe some sequins/glitter/feathers/dried flowers plus nice thread and a needle to do a stab-stitch binding. Then they have a great time filling it with lots of stuff that always seems to include the phrase "NO BOYS" at the moment! Hope this helps, Sara x

Who doesn't love the Dollar aisle at the craft store? I'd load up a bucket or basket of stickers, soaps, fancy scissors, socks, anything with glitter, mini note pads and pens, throw in some clear or light colored nail polish and it's a SleepOver Kit or Scrapbook Starter Kit depending on how you load it.

Craft stuff, sculpey, journal with colored pencils, puppet theatre or a kit to make one with stick puppets or something. Cardboard boxes! Have you read Not A Box? http://www.amazon.com/Not-Box-Antoinette-Portis/dp/0061123226/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b This is now on my all time favorite list. My boy and his friends are all about making stuff and creating/acting out stories right now.
