Snippin' in the Cabin

I just got home from a three night stay in a cabin at Blackwater Falls, West Virginia. It's only a few miles from the place we went backpacking last week. This time we opted for indoor plumbing and a soft bed.

I got in a lot of paper snipping while I was there.

scherenschnitte 5" x 7"

We had a ball mountain biking. M knows the level of riding I am capable of, and can usually lead me on trips that are perfect for me. I rode two days and he rode three.

The one snip above is reminiscent of a family gathering that we had last week. Lots of playing around in the waters of the Mobjack Bay in Virginia.

scherenschnitte 5" x 7"
This snip is not representative of any particular event of late. Thank goodness. I've seen the view over the handle bars of my bike enough over the years though. That "over the bars" kind of wreck is called an "End-o." If you mountain bike, you know an "end-o" up close and personal.

scherenschnitte 2.5" x 3.5"
And then there are the bug snips.

I don't seem to ever get tired of snipping bugs.

scherenschnitte 4" x 6"
I have two weeks of summer break left now and hopefully I will get tons more paper snipping done.

Hi Jan,
Wow, your work gets better and better! The biking one is unbelievable as is the one on the water ~ actually all of them!

Oh, please, no more end-o's! Doesn't look fun!

Jan, these are wonderful! Of course I love your bugs but the first two, the bikers and the water scene are just amazing in different ways. I love the graphic feel of the bikers going down the mountain. The water scene has a nostalgic feel to it without being maudlin. Do you name your pieces?

So prolific! The 2 bicycling snips are my faves.

Thanks for the compliments. I do usually name the pieces. The only one of these that I have a possible name for at this point, is the over the bars one. I thought it would be "End-o", but when I wrote that last sentence, I rather liked that phrase "Over the Bars." That might be better. jan

Oh yes, I've experienced an end-o, I actually had a couple of beers before I did it - so let that be a lesson - don't drink and bike ride! I love the way your snipping is kind of a journal of sorts. And your bugs are turning into quite the entomological collection!

Thanks for asking, Janie. Actually, I am trying to get an Etsy shop open in the next couple of weeks so that I can sell some of my snips.
