Lies, All Lies...My Trip to NYC

I wasn't completely honest with you about my trip to New York. Don't judge me, but I really just went up for a secret rendezvous with someone I will refer to simply as "J.D."

It is all very hush, hush, so don't tell anyone.

We went out clubbing afterward and the "brothers," as I call them, pulled me up on stage for a song or two.

Hehe...

Okay...so enough of the lies. My sister and I had some spare time in NYC last night and popped into Madame Tousaud's House of Wax for some giggles. I actually didn't think I would enjoy it, but we laughed ourselves silly making goofy photos.

This was really Reese Witherspoon, however. She was at the Today Show this morning. You can see where she is being interviewed inside and can see what is being broadcast by looking at the monitors outside.

We stood outside there for a while yesterday and today. They do the weather reports out there and film the crowd. My aunt said she saw my sister and me, so I guess standing out in the freezing cold was worth it.

We actually saw a couple more celebrities when we went to a Broadway show. Barbara Walters and Martha Stewart. They were at a premier of a new show with James Gandolfini and Marsha Gay Hardin. It was next door to the theater we went to. It was a fun surprise as we hadn't expected to see anyone.

This is the short and dirty list of what we did in the very short time we were in town:

Top of the Rock (Top floor of Rockefeller Center to get an overview of the city)

MoMA (.........I was in heaven.)

Natural History Museum

Central Park

Broadway show: Avenue Q

Today Show

NBC Tour

Tinsel Trading Company...or at least we attempted to do this. They were in the process of moving. = (

Grand Central Station

Penn Station....which is from where we arrived and departed

Restaurants, both fun and delicious (I went from a low carb diet to a total white flour and sugar one in no time flat.)

The visit was so short that there were many things we could not possibly have done. Next time we want to visit more art spots (museums, galleries, and shops) and spend more time in the garment district (where we saw the coolest fabric, button, and trimmings shops.)

Thank you so much for all the suggestions of "must see" points of interest. There was not one suggestion given that I will not make an attempt to see on another visit.

It sounds like you had a great time and I love the fun piccies. Although I have to admit I might have done something a little more scandalous with JD!

You and JD, quite the couple!! What fun, and I would have been in heaven at MoMA too. I wrote down some of the things you did, because we are thinking of doing our vacation there this summer. Do you think the boys would like to go to the garment district with me? HA!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of you with your waxy friends!

Have you checked out Kinokuniya, the Japanese book store? Great supply of origami and Japanese craft books. I could spend hours there.
