Dec. 14th

It's past my bedtime now, but I wanted to blog a tiny bit about my weekend.

My siblings and our families had our Christmas get together yesterday. All week I had been ecstatic waiting for the day. And somehow in my brain, I kept thinking that it was a holiday for everyone. All week I reminded myself that I had to shop before Saturday because the stores might be closed for the holiday. Or that I had to get gas before Saturday because the gas stations might be closed for the holiday. Oh well. It was a holiday for me, if not for everyone else.

We all went to my sister's home. She lives in my hometown still, so it feels like a homecoming to visit her. Actually, she lives in the house I lived in throughout my elementary school years.

She told me to be sure to drive by the house that we spent part of our growing up in "in town." (That's the photo above.) The new owners had set a Christmas display on their porch that included my daughter's childhood hobby horse that we had left down in the cellar.

It was such a fun day. I saw all but one of my nieces and nephews, to whom I am "Ant Janet.

I've been busy, busy, busy the last week trying to snip all of these for Christmas cards.

I've snipped 20 of this scherenschnitte design so far, and I have more to do. It's been pleasant, but I am ready to snip something else now. The design has remained the same because I have gotten the snipping of this down to a science now. I'm guessing that from start to finish, I spend an hour on each one.

Seven days of school left before Christmas break...er, Winter break. I'm not sure I can contain myself.

Better get to bed........

Your holiday sounded lovely.I love the family get togethers. I can't believe your snipping prowess. I have just completed 25 snipped placecards of a very simple design. You must have the patience of a saint to spend over an hour on each one. Lucky recipients.
