Christmas Cards

I don't obsess about Christmas things much. At this point in my life, I manage to decorate only a little bit. The only presents that I buy are for my daughter, granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and a few gifts of appreciation. I enjoy my family gatherings and an outing or two, but that's about it as far as Christmas goes.

Except for Christmas cards. I do obsess about those. I always want to find the perfect card that represents me. It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. It just has to say something about me. Occasionally I will find a card about cycling or backpacking, but I have to look hard to find them. And once in a while I'll find a beautiful art card that will work.

Most years I have thoughts throughout the year that I should be thinking up interesting ways to make my own. Usually I imagine lino printed cards, but I never have come up with an idea for that that inspired me.

So, it occurred to me that since I have gotten positive feedback about my candle pyramid snips, I should make them as my Christmas cards. So that has been what I have been working on the last couple of days. The ones in the photo above are just a sampling. I have made four more today since that photo was taken. The other night when I went to bed my hands felt arthritic, I had spent so much time working on them.

I am happy with the "cards". My only hope is that when folks take them out of the envelope they don't wonder what the heck they are.
