Art Show

Tonight I got all gussied up in a nice dress and heels and headed over to the high school. Our "pyramid" of schools had our annual art show. 40% of my students who had work in the show, attended. That's pretty good actually. A couple of the kids, who would have GREATLY benefitted from someone coming to honor them, weren't there. I shouldn't have expected that they would have come, but I had high hopes. I wish like crazy now that I had made a phone call to their parents or offered to pick them up. That makes me sad that they weren't there.

It was a little tricky to photograph kids with their art work on the top rows. This child wanted her photo taken jumping up pointing to her work on the top row. She tickles me. Last year she told me that when she was very little she had lived on a pig farm in Afghanistan. I would love to see photos of my kids in their homelands. Here they become so Americanized so quickly, it is hard to imagine them living another life.

Great picture! It makes me sad too that some of the kids didn't get to be there.
