Happy Little Snippers

These third grade Matisses used the theme of "habitat" for their work. The master work they discussed and focused on was "Beasts of the Sea."

Abstraction is often a tough hill for them to climb. It is hard to get over the idea that it doesn't have to look "real." Once they get it though, they really can take off and love it. They're so lucky to be able to learn all these things before they form rigid opinions of what art is.

These third grade kids have way more talent than me when it's time to cut paper ;) It is so important for kids to learn about art and experiment with it in different ways.
