Embossed Egg - Bull in a China Shop

I enjoy really delicate arts, but I feel like a bull in a china shop working with them. This morning I found this already damaged egg in a box of last year's eggs. It had been saved because I wanted to remember it. Just now, when I turned it over to get better lighting for a photograph, I crushed it. So many metaphors come to mind.

Now you have bits to include in a collage or mosaic.
(At least that's how I had to look at the STACK of dishes broken when we moved…) :D

I agree with the collage comment above, but oh, so sad! The embossing is gorgeous, and I'll admit total ignorance - how in the world do you DO that?!

I drew on the egg with wax, but instead of dyeing it, I put it in a vinegar bath. The vinegar's acid ate away the shell where it was not covered in wax. I love the look but it left the shell paper thin.

That is a gorgeous egg. It's very delicate and fragile but very elegant.
