Kindergarten Stitchery

My kinders are learning how to do the running stitch. I don't like to use templates, but I want them to have a design that is easy to stitch for their first time. So, I have templates of cars, trucks bunnies and butterflies that they can choose from to trace. They also trace a square so they have easy straight lines to practice on. My first graders thread needles for kinder classes. Second graders both thread and tie knots. This gives the older kids practice and helps me with prep for the little ones.

Do the older kids help out during their class time or do they come during the kinders' class? I'd love to include them in helping the younger students.

I have the big kids thread needles as practice during their class. Later I put a knot in the end of the thread for use in the kinder class. I make sure I let the big kids know that they are helping the little ones and remind them that someone did that for them when they were in kindergarten too.
