This is what happens when you fire clay that is not dry enough. And THEN you get kids who are ticked off. I told the class that the good part of this was that they got to work with clay another day! YAY!
You have my sympathies! I blew a kiln load last year. I hot glued some of the interesting shards to corks to make texture stamps for clay. Lemonade out of lemons :)
Hi Jan, I chuckled when I saw the photo - must be kind of frustrating but it looked sort of fun too! I hope the kids were intrigued and not too disappointed...

I might have titled this "Last Man Standing." The figure in the center of the kiln, came through unscathed.
