Sweet Snippyville

It may seem as though my studio, which I call "Snippyville", has been closed for the holidays.  Aux contrare.  I've been fairly crafty, but haven't had a lot to show for it.  There were still 3D churches being constructed this week to sell on Etsy.  They look similar enough to other ones I've made and shown here the last few months.

Now I've started gearing up for Valentine's Day with 3D, heart shaped, hanging pieces and scherenschnitte Valentine cards.
Valentine Scherenschnitte 4" x 6"

Valentines were the first scherenschnitte pieces that I ever made to sell.  It started 30 years ago.  (GULP!)  I worked in the archives at the College of William and Mary. On Valentine's Day, a group I belonged to had a bake sale and I snipped a few little cards to sell.  They sold like crazy so I spent the rest of the day snipping more.  This led me to selling my snips in craft shows for several years.  That was fun, but it was a lot of work.  Etsy makes the whole process easier, that's for sure.

The rest of my craft focus has been yarn related but not terribly productive.  (Knit ten rows...remove 8....knit 5 rows.... remove 7....  Knitting doesn't appear to be one of my God given talents.)

I have two week days left of vacation.  My hope is that I will have lots to share by the end of the break.

Oh, sweet work, Jan. I brought in a nasty virus a couple of days ago when I googled Scherenschnitte heart patterns. It took John a couple of hours to get rid of it. I have to look some more but I am a little afraid,

Hope you get all you want accomplished before your break is over.

Sending wishes for a very Happy New Year!
