Moving Right Along

These gloves are truly representative my work in fiber. No measuring. I prefer eyeballing the size of things, hence, the one long glove with a short thumb and one short glove with a long thumb.

They're super thick and warm though!

They were made on the two purple looms.
I'll really try to be better about my craftsmanship. Those gloves will be good enough for keeping in the car, but not good enough for anyone to have close inspection of their construction. They also took a very long time to make.

I'm wondering if knitting on connected needles will go faster, so that's what I'm playing with now.

Just playing around and practicing at this point, I'm getting ready to look at some videos on "decreasing."

This sample knitting has tons of holes in it too. One positive thing about the looms is that if you miss a stitch, you see immediately that one of the pegs has too many pieces of yarn on it. You can fix it right away, and without taking out any previous stitches.

One thing for sure, knitting on these needles feels easier on my hands than the looms do. I'm going to spend the rest of the weekend playing with these.

I do prefer crochet... but I sometimes wonder if it is greedier on the wool... My mum taught me to knit but as I use to be ambidextrous I use to night "cack" handed as she called it... I do right with my right now as being left handed was frowned on but writing with both was almost too much for the teachers to bear! lol

Thanks for popping by, I should have written it more clearly in my blog... the felted items are bags.. they have slit type handles as I am still working out how to do other types of handles that suit the bags I create... I am battling the decision to order some Patons SWS wool from Canada... its really pretty but unavailable in the uk...

the gloves do look comfy and cosy and as long as they are fit for purpose who cares if they are unique... tell people your thumbs are different lengths! lol

I watched this lady: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVCdC9bonrg
I found it quite easy to follow as you can pause it and go back.
The body was fairly easy once you got into the habbit but knotting the beads was a little fiddly and using chunky yarn was a bit tricky...its possibly easier with cord.
I will track it down and take a picture... I thought I might use it as an embelishment on a bag

You certainly are "moving along" and accomplishing much! I like to knit (probably better than crochet)but I have trouble with the double pointed needles. I prefer straight needles when I work. I love your hand warmers!

Keep up the awesome work!

I should pull out the totally crooked and really holey washcloth I attempted once.

I'm glad you liked the sugar hearts :) They're quite tasty in my warm drinks.

I'm sure when you have those lovely gloves on, no one can tell they are not Calvin Klein.
Ambitious project...at least from the eyes of a non-knitter.
