Heaps of Snipping on Labor Day Weekend

Happy Labor Day weekend!  I hope you're enjoying your celebration of the end of summer.  I feel as though my Labor Day was a month ago when my school went back in session.  (My school is a modified calendar school at the moment.)  In my mind, it is already fall.
At our first art teacher meeting for the year, my supervisor announced that if we want to participate in the art teacher art show this year, we have to submit our entries by October 2.  I've been working on a couple of things I might consider entering, but honestly, the whole flower, butterfly, folk art thing doesn't really fly for art shows.   I do these snips for the enjoyment of creation and not really to make a deep artistic statement.
I created a different papercut that was a dark and brooding self portrait.   I've uploaded it here and then deleted it a couple of times.  M walked by and upon seeing it commented "That's very scary, Dear."  Yup.   I think I was trying too hard.  At this point in time, I'm too embarrassed to show it.

At any rate, this scherenschnitte piece measures 9" x 11".

The second one.  I don't know.  I think its laying around in a heap somewhere.

I think thistles and butterflies make great art. Sometimes I think art shows are a little too narrow minded in their definition of art. I love seeing paper cuts in art shows. I think they show well and get great responses. Your work is very artistic!
