Pysanky

Valerie, of the Purple Petunia blog, wrote about having a Crafts Night gathering of friends in which she taught Pysanky. (That's Ukranian egg decorating.) Here is a photo of some of her work.




In her post she gave an overview of how pysanky is created. I was so amazed at what she did, I ordered all of the supplies to do pysanky as well.

Here's my egg after I did all the steps of waxing and dying.


Next is the exciting part; you remove the wax to see how your work turned out. You actually hold the egg next to a candle and wipe away the wax as it melts.


This is my egg, finished. The design is rudimentary and the lines are of poor quality. However, it was fun enough to make me want to continue.
