64 and Bra-less on the Martha Custis Trail

When I caught up to Mark on the bike trail yesterday, he was being engaged by an animated pedestrian. Not usually one to start conversations with random strangers, my first thought was "Uh oh." This woman appeared to be "on a roll" and I didn't know if it was a happy roll or not.

When I pulled up, she said, "I was just telling him that if I was a man, I'd not be wearing a shirt right now. I'm 64 years old, I'm hot out here, and I'm not wearing a bra." The oratory went from being bra-less to Hilary Clinton, to other topics political, to her being 64 years old again, to high up government officials who she knows, to her nephew, to the Iranians and Israelis, to outsourcing........

At first, Mark and I were polite and interjected a thought or two. As seconds turned to minutes, and the oratory didn't seem to be slowing down, Mark and I started cutting quick glances at each other. We tried to give verbal and physical signals that it was time for us to leave but the lady just didn't seem to get it. So finally Mark just said, "Well we need to get moving." And we said our cordial (and speedy) goodbyes.

So.......were we less than friendly, or did this poor woman just have issues.....

Not issues, subscriptions!

Issues. Poor you. Sounds like you were in her tractor beam. Bra-less and 64 probably not something I would promote.

I can't comment right now I'm laughing too hard! We ran into this woman's brother on our Katy Trail ride. He was saying "God bless you." in one breath and then cursing people in the other.

She sounds extremely lonely (as well as socially clueless!)
